13 March 2014 - fiber cut london and rotterdam

A fiber cut in London and a planned maintenace in Rotterdam cause internet connectivity issues. We try to resolve these as soon as possible. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Update 0:45
The maintenance could take up to 6 hours, and is not under control of edpnet.

Update 1:07
London doesn't seem to be a fiber cut after all, but an emergency maintenance, but it could also take several hours.

Update 3:23
Traffic restored.

  4. Where and when was this planned maintenance announced? Or was it planned in case another fiber cut occured?

    1. We were informed about the planned maintenance in Rotterdam and it wasn't a problem for the connectivity of our customers (that is why we didn't need to communicate about it towards our customers) until we received the message of an emergency maintenance in London, which gave us a problem for our configured traffic reroute for the ongoing maintenances in Rotterdam. But we already have a solution for this similar scenario in the future.

  5. 6 hours of "planned" downtime, you must be joking right?

    1. Nope, that is why the subcontractor planned it after midnight. It was an estimated downtime, and luckily it didn't take 6 hours. We were informed about this planned maintenance and it wasn't a problem for the connectivity of our customers (that is why we didn't need to communicate about it) until we received the message of an emergency maintenance in London, which gave us a problem for our configured traffic reroute for the ongoing maintenances in Rotterdam. 6. Do you plan a customer compensation?

  7. Why didn't you reroute via BNIX ? you still have connectivity for your website and some external site (mobistar, Telenet).

    1. Yes, external sites weren't reachable. But we will make sure that issues will be posted on our new support site (Q2) and the 'known issues' blogspot site.

  9. Is it possible that external sites aren't available anymore? This morning I could sent mails but now I get errors.
